Mexico City is full of culture and history and that can be seen in the many museums spread through the city. As someone who is visiting for a short time you may be wondering what museums are the ones you should not miss. While it is safe to say that most museums will give you a lot of new information that you may have not known in the past some are just much more visited than others. Here are the museums that you should not miss when visiting Mexico City.

The Museo Nacional de Antropologia should be the one museum that you visit before any others. Despite the incredible amount of great museums in Mexico City none will offer you as much of the culture and history of Mexico. In this museum you will find about all the different towns and cultures from pre-Columbian Mexico and you will see some of the most famous artifacts from them including the Sun Stone. There is a fee of 57 pesos which is the equivalent of less than 5 dollars. Children under 13 and seniors get a free admission and the museum is closed on Mondays.

Museo Frida Kahlo

The Museo Frida Kahlo is not as big as other museums in Mexico City and yet it is one of the most visited ones. The museum saw a spike in the number of visitors in 2002 after the movie Frida was released. Palacio de Bellas Artes

Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of the most visited sites in Mexico City and it is the place where you will find most artistic presentations such as the National Opera Company and the National Symphony. Besides that you will find museums and art from Mexico’s top artists including Diego Rivera. On the 4th floor you will find the National Museum of Arquitecture, so Bellas Artes in is a great stop for those who travel to Mexico City.
